Crock Pot Dressing

¾ cup margarine
1 onion, chopped
1 – 16 oz. loaf of bread plus 8 slices bread, cubed
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 ½ teaspoons sage
½ teaspoon pepper
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can chicken broth
4 eggs, beaten

Melt margarine, add onion and sauté for 15 minutes.
Cube or tear bread into large bowl.
In a mixing bowl beat eggs and add cream of chicken soups, baking powder, sage, pepper and stir well.
Add chicken broth and stir.
Pour margarine and onion over the bread.
Pour the soup and egg mixture over the bread and stir until bread is well coated. Mixture will be very moist. Grease crock-pot and add stuffing mixture. Cook on high for 1 hour then turn heat down to low and continue cooking for 5 hours. It’s important to stir away from edge of crock every 30 to 45 minutes to prevent sticking or burning. Note: Use bread 2 to 3 days old not dried bread as many recipes call for.
