German Chocolate Upside Down Cake

1 box German chocolate cake mix
(mix as directed on package)
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
1 stick butter
1 8-oz pkg. cream cheese
16 oz. box of confectioners’ sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 13 x 9 inch baking dish, place the coconut and pecans, spread evenly. Mix cake mix according to package directions; pour this over the coconut and pecan mixture in the baking dish. In a saucepan, over low heat, melt butter and cream cheese; mix well and add the box of confectioners’ sugar. Mix well and spoon over cake batter. Bake 35-40 minutes. Cool, cut and eat. DO NOT invert cake onto another platter.
My cousin's wife said she had to bake it for about 5-10 minutes more than the directions, so check it and adjust the time accordingly

  1. Can you use devils food cake mix and german chocolate upside down cake mix interchangeably? What is the difference in flavor?
